Traveling to numerous events throughout the year, demonstrating our latest payment innovation, Genius™, and speaking with industry professionals about new technologies, payment acceptance and mobile commerce, it’s always interesting to explore and learn within a specific vertical.
Last week, Merchant Warehouse exhibited for the first time at the International Franchise Association (IFA) annual convention. Held in Las Vegas, the event attracts a wide array of franchisors, franchisees and consultants as well as exhibitors providing everything from shipping to signs to online training to accounting software. Headlined by a wonderful keynote from former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, the event featured educational sessions and roundtables covering everything from private equity investments to retirement and succession planning to online marketing budgets.
Conversations in our booth naturally centered on payments, but ranged widely based on the franchise type, individual business models and future expansion plans. There was a definitive interest in mobile applications that integrate loyalty and rewards in addition to payments as well as mobile card acceptance as an ancillary option for traditional payment acceptance devices. Seamless point-of-sale (POS) integrations, future proof payment solutions, mobile commerce and centralized control and management were also top of mind for key decision makers.
While only our inaugural presence at the event, it was evident that for the leaders in the franchising world, mobile payments and commerce are top of mind and a focus area for 2013 and beyond.
