Merchant Warehouse Participates in Boston Cares' Dash for a Difference Event Date: Apr 25, 2009
On Saturday, April 25th, 2009, Merchant Warehouse participated in Boston Cares' "Dash for a Difference event.
This "Amazing Race" event sent over 150 people, in teams, to 14 different locations throughout the city in a race to do good and raise $21,569 for the Boston Cares organization. Merchant Warehouse was represented by two teams of its employees, one of which won the 3rd place finish!
Below is a summary of the day and the participants' accomplishments:
· Made 500+ sandwiches for the Women's Lunch Place
· Deep-Cleaned 200 chairs and five tables for Friday Night Supper Program
· Swept a half of a mile of city sidewalks, put in the equivalent of nine and a half hours of landscaping work at Boston Housing Authority's Cathedral Apartments as part of Boston Shines
· Built 32 birdhouses to be used for environmental and educational programs at various Mass Audubon sites
· Created 130 Mother’s Day cards that will be given to mothers at The Women’s Lunch Place and hopeFound
· Painted murals and planted flowers at the Elizabeth Stone House
· Peeled 125 pounds of carrots to be used to create meals for people living with life-threatening illnesses by Community Servings
