About the Team:
The technical staff at Merchant Warehouse believes that code is our currency. Our team is working on the next generation of mobile payments – QR, NFC, Bluetooth, and EMV-based digital wallets. Our code literally makes our merchants money and helps provide a less expensive and more seamless checkout experience for their customers.

About the Job:
As our Release Engineer, you will be an integral member of our Productivity Team. This team is the beating heart of the engineering organization. The team’s sole mission is to make our engineers even more productive than they already are, pushing the envelope of cashless payments. We do that by eliminating all the transactional costs that are a drag on software development, as well implementing tools & processes that help our team move faster.
Today, our Productivity Team is in the process of building a Continuous Delivery Platform, built on top of Thoughtworks Go, Chef, and a Windows VMM based private cloud. We’re doing this because we believe that releasing early & often is a competitive advantage. We believe in automating all the boring, repetitive tasks. And we’ve cultivated a DevOps culture that defines us at our core.
A qualified Release Engineering candidate should be familiar with the following broad areas:
- SCM (GitHub/GitLab, Perforce, SVN)
- Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Hudson, TeamCity, Bamboo)
- Provisioning software (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, CFEngine)
- Build systems (Maven, Gradle, Ant, MSBuild)
- Artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus, Nuget)
- Scripting (Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, Bash)
- Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V, VirtualBox, OpenStack, Vagrant, VMM)
- Monitoring & log analysis tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, graylog, logstash)
The Release Engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining MW’s Continuous Integration System, including its static analysis and code review capabilities
- Working with the broader Productivity Team on our Continuous Delivery Platform
- Working with the teams to script & automate releasing new production components
- Maintaining our SCM repositories
- Maintaining our private clouds, performance, and engineering labs
- Monitoring the operational health of the above systems
- Establishing, documenting, and enforcing standard operating practices
