What is ISIS and what does it mean for Merchants?

ISIS is a unique partnership for us in that we're using NFC technology to accept payments at the merchant's counter top. It's one of the things that the card brands are driving to right now, and it's something that works off the traditional payment rails. But it also gives us the opportunity to wrap in other value in the transaction and make the transaction more than just about accepting payments and allowing consumers to get coupons and offers and redeem those within a single tap as well as store their loyalty points and loyalty cards in the wallet itself. The NFC technology is neat in that it does use the existing payments rails, as I was saying. We process those just like existing card transactions but with other pieces of the transaction built into it.

New mobile applications continue to enter the payments marketplace servicing a wide variety of needs for merchants and consumers alike. With dozens of entries flooding the space each month, it’s our goal with, what has now become our ‘What Is’ series, to provide brief overviews of many of the new apps available. Giving merchants and developers an up-to-date look at the opportunities and technology currently available to them in the market today.
